Best Burger
Smashburger

Take always-fresh/never frozen 100-percent certified Angus beef, make it into a ball, then smash  down for 10 seconds on a 400 degree flat-iron grill, searing in all the flavors and juices. That’s a smashburger, and it’s a hit in Woodbury in three sizes: small smash, smash and big smash. 9965 Hudson Rd.; 651.256.0021
Runner-up: Champps Americana Third place: American Burger Emporium

Best Takeout After Work
Angelina’s Kitchen
Busy families searching for quick, wholesome and delicious food turn to Angelina’s, where the tagline is “Takeout You’ll Feel Great About.” “Our $20 family value meals are the most popular, and penne a la vodka with chicken and lasagna are the top choices,” says owner Angela Verrastro. “Another favorite—great for on-the-run to sports games and practices—is our grilled chicken wrap, a high protein, all-natural selection that includes fruit or barley salad.” 2170 Eagle Creek Ln.; 651.998.0474

The avocado club, roasted beet salad and mushroom gorgonzola ribeye. “That’s why people like our food and enjoy trying something different each time they come in,” he says. 9240 Hudson Rd.; 651.287.2000

Runner-up: Bonfire Third place: Champps Americana

Best Kid-friendly Restaurant
DeLeo Bros. Pizza
Without a doubt, this spot has nailed it with the recipe for a successful kids spot: great food and fun. DeLeo Bros.’ New York-style pizza is the main event, and there’s also a nice selection of fresh pastas. “We understand kids; if a child only wants cheese pizza/no sauce, we’ll go down to ¼ of a pizza with cheese/no sauce, and the rest can be the parents’ pizza,” says Nathaniel Dahlman, owner. “Kids can order individual slices of pizza, and we offer any of our pastas kids-size ($3.95 includes a small drink; add chicken, meatballs or meat sauce for $1), as well as our signature garlic knots which are a big hit with kids.” Then there’s the retro arcade: flashing pinball and video games that attract children, teens and parents. “Many times I’ve seen Dad beat the kids at Frogger, and the kids say with surprise, ‘Dad, you’re really good at video games!’” says Dahlman. “The arcade brings generations together.” 803 Bielenberg Dr. Ste. 108; 651.714.9315
Runner-up: Applebee’s Third place: Bonfire
