There’s still a lot of love circling in the air, even after Valentine’s Day. But a place where you’ll find a lot of it is at ChiroWay in Woodbury, where Trent Scheidecker, D.C., and Michael Madison, D.C., will team up with the program Doctors with a Heart to give back to their community.

ChiroWay will extend its hours to 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 in order to help as many people as possible.

Doctors with a Heart is a non-profit organization of over 15,000 professionals in the medical community who pledge to donate one day, usually around Valentine’s Day, to provide services to those who have been prevented from seeking care due to their own personal circumstances. The chiropractors at ChiroWay plan to provide complimentary spinal checks, adjustments and chiropractic reports.

This is the first time ever that ChiroWay will participate in the Doctors with a Heart program; they made a commitment to making 2012 a year dedicated to community service. The company’s been reaching out to homeless shelters, adoption agencies, and battered women’s shelters in the area in the days leading up to the February 25 event.

“[Community service] is important because it’s the glue that bridges the business with the individuals in the community,” Scheidecker says. “It helps to increase the welfare of the community and gives back to those who have given to us for years.”

He also believes that this day fulfills the commitment of ChiroWay to give everyone the opportunity to experience the benefits of chiropractic care.

The idea for the event originated with Madison after he met some dentists who had participated in the Doctors with a Heart program a few years back and helped a lot of people.

“It’s a civic duty to help someone who might not be able to [afford these services] normally,” Madison says. “We feel that using our skills to help the community is important, especially during times like these with the economy and healthcare climate.”
