Woodbury Concussions: How Many Fingers Do You See?
What you can’t see can, indeed, hurt you. That gray matter, hidden beneath the ‘Justin Beiber swoop doo,’ is a delicate, complicated, sometimes perplexing organ—especially when it belongs to a young athlete.
The more I researched the nature of concussions, and spoke with the victims and family members of the injured, the more convinced I became that no kid of mine will ever be allowed to play a contact sport of any kind, especially one that requires a helmet. Surely the need for a helmet at all is a dead giveaway. Well, except if my kid reeeeally loves it and excels at playing the sport and well… this must be what every parent wrestles with!
