The Woodbury American Legion Post 501 will be conducting their Wall of Thanks charity drive at the Valley Creek Mall starting November 26 and running through December 18. The Suicide Prevention Collaborative of the East Metro is thrilled to be hosting our 11th Annual "Together It Gets Better" 5K Walk/Run on October 15th.
This event brings the community together for a fun, meaningful morning that helps us to give back to the community in a variety of ways. We are able to use the registration, sponsorship funds and donations to educate community members about suicide prevention and provide support to area schools and organizations that our children and teens engage with regularly. Join us at Belwin's Education Site for a joint event hosted by Belwin Conservancy and FamilyMeans. Designed for persons with memory loss and their caregivers, this event will feature live music, nature-inspired arts activities, short guided nature walks and bird watching. Poet Zoë Bird, creator of the Alzheimer’s Poetry Project Minnesota, will also be present, along with musician Andrea Stern, courtesy of Compas. This program is a 5-week service learning, leadership development and entrepreneurial program. It’s designed to give students who are incoming seniors (grade 12) opportunities to develop critical skills necessary for increased community engagement. In the program they will also acquire real world skills to succeed in the business environment and explore entrepreneurship in the 21st century. Fun activities for all ages. 5k Run with the Bison at 9:00 a.m. (fun trail run prior to the bison’s arrival), then live music, eco-arts, food trucks, and the bison release from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
