SUMMARY:East Metro Symphony Orchestra Presents Symphonie Fantastique
DESCRIPTION:Woodbury-based East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is pleased to present Symphonie Fantastique at 3 p.m. on November 2 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Admission to this concert is free. Donations in support of the orchestra’s work in the community are always appreciated. \nSpooky vibes abound for EMSO’s fall concert. The performance will begin with Modest Mussorgsky’s chaotic and ominous classic Night on Bald Mountain; and Peer Gynt Suite No. 1\, one of Edvard Grieg’s surreal pieces based on the Henrik Ibsen 1867 play. The featured performance of Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique\, the dark and dreamy five-movement symphony about a composer’s obsession with a beautiful actress and terrifying visions will complete the concert. \nSymphonie Fantastique is the first of four concerts in EMSO’s 2025-2026 concert season.

SUMMARY:Mixed Precipitation’s Pickup Truck Opera: "The Return of King Idomeneo"
DESCRIPTION:It’s Mozart’s musical myth of humanity in peril. It’s 1950s doo-wop and an epic Greek adventure! It’s Mixed Precipitation’s 17th annual summer opera extravaganza! With the barn as your backdrop\, come to Dodge Nature Center to enjoy The Return of King Idomeneo. \nMozart’s epic music comes to a 1950s street corner with a unique mash-up of passionate arias\, exciting choruses\, 50s doo-wop\, and 60s girl groups. This mythical and full of adventure. \nOur adaptation\, The Return of King Idomeneo\, brings the action to mid-century America\, as the neighborhood celebrates the return of its victorious hometown heroes from the long and bloody Trojan War. General Idomeneo has taken hostages from Troy: three brilliant scientists\, Hecuba and her daughters Ilia and Cassandra. And Neptune\, the vengeful god of the sea\, prepares to unleash his sewage monsters.
