Miller Barn Committee Hosts Dîner en Blanc Party to Fund Restoration Project

Enjoy a night of French tradition to help preserve Woodbury’s history.

Want to enjoy a night of French finery? How about the chance to help preserve an important part of Woodbury’s history? This month, the Miller Barn committee is hosting a traditional French dîner en blanc, or “dinner in white,” to help restore the Miller Barn at Valley Creek Park.

To raise money, there will be both live and silent auctions on a wide variety of fun and unique items, including a chef-prepared meal at your own home. All proceeds from the auctions will go toward restoring the Miller Barn, giving it a new roof, siding and more updates. “We want to make it a historical center for people to come learn about Woodbury. We want to make them aware of the history,” says board member and chair of the dîner en blanc Joyce Flynn. “Woodbury isn’t just a suburb of the Cities. It has a rich history as a farming community that has been around for a long time.”

If you’re looking for other ways to help out, the Miller Barn committee is accepting volunteers for the event. You can also sponsor the event, or simply donate.

Dinner will be picnic-style and baskets will be provided for guests to choose their items from the classic French cuisine served by the Lake Elmo Inn. Each basket comes with a bottle of wine as well. Guests will enjoy their meals in a grove of trees where the farmhouse used to sit. Remember to wear your blanc finery. With fairy lights hanging from the trees and strolling musicians playing French music, it’s sure to be a magical and peaceful evening.
