Woodbury-based East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is thrilled to present the musical story Peter and the Wolf at 3 p.m. on March 16 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Admission to this concert is free. Donations in support of the orchestra’s work in the community are always appreciated.
The concert will begin with spotlight performances from small ensembles of orchestra members. Pieces during the concert will include Antonin Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds; Jessie Montgomery’s Strum; Anthony Cirone’s 4/4 for Four; and Paul Dukas’ Fanfare from La Peri. The orchestra will also play Franz Schubert’s Ballet Music 1 & 2. In the second half the orchestra will present Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, the Russian folk tale told through the music with different instruments representing each character in the story. The story will be narrated by EMSO tuba player Jeff Hogden.
