Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA; wlamn.org) is enhancing opportunities and expanding its programming for upper grades, offering the chance for K–12 students to grow through the same learning environment.
This new expansion, which includes the addition of new facilities, means families will not have to select a different school as their student ages. And the new upper grade building is slated to be completed this fall. According to Jonas Beugen, WLA’s superintendent, eliminating this transition “creates a more tailored experience because we already know each student and what their needs are,” he says.

As the school grows, the aim is to maintain “a small-school feel with big-school opportunities,” says Lizz Sable Stauning of WLA. Beugen also emphasized expanding upon its extracurriculars and creating stronger support for programs, such as PSEO. He says, “We want to make sure our students feel supported.” Moving forward, Beugen says, “I’m most excited to see the first students who’ve completed the program.”
