When your fitness goals are deeper than what you see in the mirror, it’s easier to build and sustain the habits you need in order to reach your goals.

It’s still summer. Magazines shout out to remind us that we can get flat abs in “30 days!” or find ourselves bikini-ready in “6 weeks!” It’s easy to fall into the trap of worrying about our health and wellness only when a picnic, wedding or cabin trip necessitates our showing skin. But how well does that work? If trying on swimsuits isn’t enough for sustained effort and change year round, what is? That’s where you need to find your why. It’s different for everyone, but it’s the core reason that you want to change: a reason that will outlive bare arms and shorts. Do you want to be able to run a 5K? Snowshoe in the deep snow? Climb stairs without huffing and puffing? Say yes to a last-minute invite for stand-up paddleboarding? When your health goals are deeper than what you see in the mirror, it’s easier to build and sustain the habits you need in order to reach your goals.
