Woodbury High School alumna Audrey Amoah is set to represent her community.
The Aquatennial Ambassador Organization (AAO) announced this year’s Candidate Program will feature Woodbury local Audrey Amoah. Running from July 22 to July 28, the 2025 Minneapolis Aquatennial Ambassador Candidate Program has 44 young women participating. Out of the group, one person is chosen to be Queen of the Lakes, and two others are chosen as princesses. There is a multi-faceted process involving a selection committee, including an interview section about co-curriculars, personal and professional goals, and public speaking abilities. Contestants also engage in developmental and unique experiences that include visiting landmarks throughout the city, such as The Women’s Club of Minneapolis.
Woodbury’s ambassador Amoah is a student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Pursuing a bachelors degree in psychology, she hopes to attend medical school to become an obstetrician-gynecologist. Amoah previously was featured in Woodbury Magazine’s 2023 Senior Spotlight article where she shared personal attributes and goals which align with why she wants to be in the AAO program. She participates in numerous service activities, such as in her church, the Red Cross and her personal favorite, school carnivals. In her free time, Amoah enjoys reading, knitting and grabbing ice cream with friends and family. She focuses on developing a healthy, well-rounded mindset, so she will be prepared to bring her skill and care to helping people no matter where she ends up. “My favorite part of being a Woodbury ambassador was getting to experience the multitude of ways communities show up for their citizens,” Amoah says. “It expanded my mindset on how vital building a connected community is.” Amoah looks forward to experiencing everything AAO has to offer her.
