Children’s Theatre Company brings Dr. Seuss’s beloved holiday classic back to the stage.

Rehearsals are underway at the Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) in Minneapolis for the upcoming production of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, an original musical adaptation directed by company veteran Dean Holt. The story is based on the classic holiday book by Dr. Seuss, and is set in the festive and snowy town of Whoville. When the cantankerous Grinch tries to ruin the local Whos’ Christmas celebrations by stealing their decorations, food and gifts, the town’s reaction teaches him a valuable lesson about kindness.

This season, Woodbury’s own Miles Rauk is taking to the stage as a member of the student cast playing Who Child and Mini Grinch. We connected with the young actor to learn more about the upcoming Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which runs from November 3, 2026, through January 3, 2027.

What has been one of the most exciting elements about being a part of this production? Being surrounded by people who share the same passion as me and are incredibly talented is a great opportunity [that] I get out of this production.

Do you have a favorite memory from the rehearsal process so far? The first time running the show was probably one of my favorite moments. All my favorite numbers and scenes [were] put together to finally see what the show looks like as a whole.

What is one of your favorite lines or scenes, and why? The scene when the Grinch goes shopping [and starts developing] his plans of stealing Christmas is one of my favorites. He goes around town scaring the Whos with a bit of comedic action thrown in as well.

How have you grown as a performer through working on this production? I’ve been able to get a bunch of feedback from different people running the show. It has really helped me learn and get a different view on things.

What do you hope the audience takes away from the show? I hope the audience leaves with memories. They could be funny ones, meaningful ones or anything in between. But memories are what keep the experience alive.
