“On this particular day, I was walking around where I knew people put out different plants for the pollinators,” hobby photographer Steven Meisel says. For Meisel, a good photo vs. a great photo is the background. “It’s the yellow and purple of the flower against that brownish-orange background; that contrast is what makes it work,” he says.
Meisel is a multitime Focus on Woodbury photo contest winner; on his awards, he says, “It means other people see what I see, and see the beauty in the world around us.”
