Cocos Heart Academy offers kids the chance to learn about dog rescue and care.

The experts at Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue—an east metro nonprofit that finds loving homes for dogs in need—are offering a unique camp this month for kids who love dogs. Coco’s Heart Academy is a day camp for grades K-6, offered the week of August 12. Campers (who might dream of being dog owners, dog fosters or even veterinarians) will learn about caring for dogs and what dog rescue really means. They’ll also have the chance to make some toys for their new four-legged friends and visit with some of Coco’s Heart’s current resident puppies.

Kindergartners and first-graders attend one half-day camp on August 12; second- through sixth-graders will attend one full-day session on a different day during the week. Registration fees cover camp activities led by a licensed teacher, a t-shirt, a snack (plus lunch for older kids) and a photo with camp dogs. Check online for registration and other details.
