Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole is a violin concerto featuring Spanish motifs that sparked a brief period of interest in Spanish music in the 1870s. The piece will feature a powerful solo performance by EMSO concertmaster, Aja Majkrzak. The concert will also include Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, a fugue and variations which celebrates the many instruments in an orchestra, and Johann Friedrich Fasch’s Sonata for 2 Oboes and 2 Bassoons. Admission to this concert is free. Donations in support of the orchestra’s work in the community are always appreciated.
Symphonie Espagnole is the third concert in EMSO’s 2023-2024 concert season. EMSO presents four concerts each season. For more concert and season information, visit EMSO’s website at emsorch.org.
