As soon as the snow subsides, it’s time to start caring for your lawn. “You can put down crab grass preventer as soon as the snow melts,” Mike Frattallone, co-owner of Frattallone’s Ace Hardware & Garden Centers, says.
Whereas crab grass should be eliminated prior to its growth, weeds are a post-emergent problem.
“When thick weeds sprout, that’s when you need to put down weed killer,” Frattallone says.
