Welcome to the March 2024 Issue

Woodbury Magazine March 2024

Never have I seen a trend comeback as big as the fan-favorite Espresso Martini. OK, perhaps there are some that rival it, but I don’t think there’s one as posh. In 2021, the New York Times documented its surge; followed by Forbes showcasing it as one of the top-selling drinks of 2022; and restaurateurs were seeing the once-popular cocktail as one of the top 10 ordered cocktails in 2023. And I can understand why—our favorite morning beverage (espresso!) goes from day to night with a simple twist. It’s a classic, and it’s celebrated on March 15—National Espresso Martini Day.

In our food issue, we’re celebrating the beloved Martini and more. Learn about its history and feel inspired to make your own in The Revival of the Espresso Martini. For a different kind of sip, locally owned Niko Niko Boba has you covered. From unique recipes to its tight-knit team, operations manager Cindy Quan shares the success of Niko Niko’s sweet treats.

Speaking of sweet treats, the Easter Bunny comes early this year on March 31, and Jessie Takkunen of The Dessert Table is offering tips on building the sweetest treat baskets.

Of course, March wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of green. Woodbury resident Margaret Wachholz shares some of her Irish traditions with us for St. Patrick’s Day. From her childhood in County Wexford to the taste she’s brought to our community, Wachholz dives into her culture, sharing memories, traditions and customary recipes.

Sláinte, readers,
