Aspire Music Academy and Open Door Community Theatre Group team up for this year’s Stars on Broadway revue.

This year, the popular Stars on Broadway musical performance returns—and this time, it’s a collaboration between two Woodbury arts organizations: Aspire Music Academy, and newly minted theater group Open Door Community Theatre Group. George May, one of the performance’s producers, says, “Many of Open Door’s members, leaders and advisors have either participated in past Stars shows, helped deliver them, or did both. There is a lot of regard and history between [the main organizers]. The collaboration on Stars is a very natural outgrowth of that.”

The production was originally the brainchild of Aspire Music Academy director Lori Sager, and offers a Broadway-style musical revue format that highlights just the biggies—the show-stopping numbers many audience members will be excited to sing along with. The show casts a wide range of ages and talent levels and, according to organizers, “gives each performer a moment to shine in the production.”

Stars on Broadway’s 2020 theme is (a family-friendly) “Heroes & Villains,” and will be presented this month at Hudson High School in Hudson, Wis. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities.
