Photographer captures an astonishingly close shot of a turkey.
Steven Meisel was strolling down Ojibway Park Road when a flock of turkeys came out from the pond area and onto a nearby lawn. “Reflexively, I crouched down for a good angle, raised the camera and just started shooting,” says Meisel, who has made it a habit of bringing his camera on walks for potential spur-of-the-moment pictures.
It was Mesiel’s mentality of “allowing the scene to come to me” that aided him in receiving first place for his up-close bird shot. “I know that photo opportunities often arise when one least expects it,” he says.
