Ron Hawkins’ photo “Brilliant Autumn Colors at the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial” took third place in our City Landmarks category.
Each month, we feature one of the photos from our 2018 Focus on Woodbury photo contest. This month, we asked photographer Ron Hawkins to tell us about “Brilliant Autumn Colors at the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial,” which took third place in our City Landmarks category.
When and where did you take the photo?
I took the photo at the Veterans Memorial which is next to Woodbury City Hall. It was a nice fall day in the middle of October.
What camera did you use?
The camera I used is an iPhone 6.
What’s your photography background?
I guess you could consider me an amateur photographer, or a just-for-the-enjoyment-of-it photographer. I have two other cameras that I utilize for different occasions or outings, but I find having a camera-phone with me all the time is perfect for spontaneous photos like this one. I always look forward to Woodbury Magazine’s annual photo contest and appreciate the talents of those who submit the incredibly beautiful pictures.
What’s your favorite thing about the image, or what struck you about the scene and inspired you to take it?
My favorite thing about the image is the freshly fallen colorful leaves, along with the beautiful colors still on the trees.
