Did you know that it takes 1,000 books to classify as a private library? Although that number is an informal consensus agreed upon by book lovers, I’m taking it as a personal goal to reach that in my own collection. My husband has even promised me that one day—most likely far in the future—we will have a full library in our home. For now, I’m happy with my 381 books. (At least, that’s how many I have at the time of writing this. I’m confident that number is probably closer to 400 now that we’re in August!)
Also hovering around that number is the number of books written by Thomas Kingsley Troupe. The Woodbury resident has penned over 400 children’s books since 2008. Patrick’s Super Socks marked his first book release, which still holds a special place in his heart. “When I first held Patrick’s Super Socks, I was getting teary-eyed looking at the alligator on the cover,” Kingsley Troupe says.
This month marks our annual education issue, which includes our beloved Senior Spotlight article. Meet three students from the Class of 2027 who are leaving an imprint on their school communities, including East Ridge, Stillwater and Woodbury high schools. Also, New Life Academy is celebrating big this 2026–27 school year, commemorating its golden anniversary with special festivities.
