Inspired by the Family Achievement Center’s (familyachievement.com) mission to provide hope, the Move to Your Own Groove All Abilities Run, Walk & Roll will inspire the community for its eighth year. This running event focuses on inclusion rather than competition, and all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to join.
The races will start at 9:30 a.m. September 13 at Colby Lake Park, taking place on an accessible path.
“We offer multiple participation options to meet people where they are,” says Katy Gavin, Family Achievement Center vice president of therapy services.
Participants start the day with a 50-meter “run, walk or roll.” From there, attendees are invited to run, walk or roll in a 1K or 5K. “It’s not just accessible, but it’s intentionally inclusive,” Gavin says. All proceeds from the event will go to the Family Achievement Foundation, which strives and hopes to improve lives within the community.
