Invasive Plant Blitz at Fish Creek

Help protect our newest preserve by searching for and marking invasive plants for removal!  Learn Ramsey County CWMA early detection species and use the EDDMapS App on your smart phone to report!  Species include wild parsnip, Oriental bittersweet, narrow-leaf bittercress, common tansy and Japanese hedge parsley.  Parsnip may cause burns; long pants, closed-toe footwear, tall socks, gloves and a long sleeved shirt are highly recommended.

MOTHERS DAY WILDLIFE STROLL

(FOR ALL AGES, CHILDREN, WITH ADULT)

Take your Mom and/or Grandma for a Nature Walk! Learn about some Wildlife Moms on the pond as you explore on the trails with the Naturalist. Will the ducks and geese Mommas still be laying on their eggs in the nest, or will the babies be hatched? Let’s find out! Create a special Mother’s Day card for your Mom, your Grandma, or your Baby to help you remember this special day. Dads are welcome too! If it is too rainy to walk the trails, we will still show a spring pond slideshow, and you can explore the exhibit room, and make a card.

WEED ‘EM & REAP

Help the naturalist weed, and learn during this fun work event! Experienced and new gardeners alike are invited to dig in to the native plant gardens at the Maplewood Nature Center with the Naturalist. By the time you leave, you will be able to identify at least four native plants and four weeds. We will be transplanting plants, so there may be a chance to take some divisions home.
