Growing up, I was never particularly one for summers at the lake—though Minnesota offers thousands of them (literally, of course!), I preferred my time to be spent cozied up with a book on the patio or gathering with friends and family around the bonfire.


Woodbury local Nikki Osho captured her daughter’s gleaming smile on August 3, 2021, as she climbed into the driver’s seat of the Woodbury firetruck. “It was a neighborhood get-together, and all of a sudden, a firetruck just pulled up and my 5-year-old daughter hopped in!” Osho says.


Woodbury High School graduate (WHS) Madison Sosa says she first heard of Nautical Bowls two years ago—she and her sister made the trek to Minnetonka to try it, and immediately fell in love.


Kick off the month with summer fun as your kids make their way through approximately a 1-mile-long obstacle course in Oakwood Park. Woodbury Parks and Recreation is partnering with the City of Cottage Grove to offer a course with an array of obstacles friendly for kids ages 6–12.

It’s the weekend. You have friends coming over, and they are bringing their kids. You have food and cocktails planned, but what are you giving the kids? How about something other than pop? 


Jen and Riley have been best friends since kindergarten. They consider each other family even though their lives have gone in different directions.


I’ve written many recipes for loved ones over the years: sister, daughter, son, husband, mother-in-law, best friend and so on. However, there is one very special friend I’ve yet to write for, even cook for—until now.
